DMA Breakthrough Award – £1000 Prize
THE AWARD
Calling all young creatives! The DMA Breakthrough Award gives you the opportunity to impress the best in the business with your creative ideas.
You will get to showcase your talent to the industry by creating real client work for your portfolio. Who knows, if your work stands out from the crowd it could unlock the door to that dream job you’ve been searching for.
The DMA Breakthrough Award is sponsored by the Graeme Robertson Trust (GRT), founded in memory of legendary Brann creative director Graeme Robertson. The GRT helps fresh creative talent break into the industry, you can find out more here.
THE CHALLENGE
The DMA Breakthrough Award gives the UK’s creative students the chance to shine amongst top marketing professionals and win industry kudos (as well as money).
This year we offer a live client brief from The Economist, the English newspaper who are the lead authority on international business news and world affairs.
The publication has been operating since 1843 and offers its readers insight and opinion on international news, politics, business, finance, science and technology.
The brief: The Economist is searching for ways to increase their female readership. They want a fresh approach that understands their legacy and helps to expand their demographic. They want sparkling creative work that reaches out to female target audiences, boosts publication awareness and helps grow The Economist family.
If they love your work, they’ll use it. Ensure that your ideas are real head-turners.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
This is the perfect opportunity to develop a piece of living, breathing work. It’s the kind of thing creative students need, and employers love to see. Employers look through literally hundreds of books from young creatives, so you need to stand out and be different. The DMA Breakthrough Award gives you:
- A chance to work on a real client brief to beef up your portfolio
- Written feedback on your entry from professional creatives
- One-to-one meetings and sessions with creative directors
Finally, if your work blows our judges’ minds you’ll be one of three creative pairs to win a place on our shortlist.
We invite our shortlisted pairs to the DMA Awards, held this December in London. There you will have the chance to meet and mingle with some of London’s top creative directors, agencies and marketers.
There, we will announce the winner of the DMA Breakthrough Award. First place winners will take home a cash prize of £1,000 and be rewarded with a paid internship at an agency. Second place will pocket £500 and third place will receive £250.
