I am a Roman archaeologist and research fellow for the Portus Project, specialising in Roman architecture and construction. My doctoral thesis at Oxford University analyses the construction and economics of public building in Rome under the emperor Trajan. I have taught a course on the City of Rome and contributed lectures to a number of other courses, including Archaeology of the Roman World, Augustus: the Roman Revolution, and Rome and the Sea. I have excavated at sites in Italy and the UK for over ten years, including Poggio Civitate (Murlo), Vindolanda, the Sangro Valley Project, Dorchester-on-Thames, and Portus. I have been working at Portus since 2009.
