Hey everyone! I'm currently a Ph.D. candidate in Classical Art & Archaeology at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. My research generally focuses on politics and propaganda in Greek and Roman art, but more specifically on the manipulation of mythology and religion in Roman imperial art to further a political agenda, and on the dissemination of such images in the Roman provinces. Thus, Portus is the natural entrepot for the exchange of socio-political ideologies flowing out and new ideas flowing in. I am hoping that working at Portus can help shed some light on all of the conduits of communication the capital had with its larger provincial cities, not just the economical interactions. I also teach Latin and a course on Greek mythology through the visual arts.
