MSHE members Marcus Grace, Andri Christodoulou, Carys Hughes and Janice Griffiths have just published a paper in School Science Review calling for the urgent need to teach about epigenetics in secondary school science. The rapidly growing field of epigenetics has transformed biological theory, and yet many of us are unaware of its significance. The research found that only a minority of trainee science teachers were familiar with the term, but with further structured discussion they were readily able to engage with social, ethical and health promotion implications relating to epigenetics.
