We had a strong and successful presence of the MSHE research centre at Karlstad, Sweden this month, were four of our members presented their work at theĀ 11th conference of European Researchers in Didactics of Biology (ERIDOB) which took place between 5-9 September 2016.
Dr Jenny Byrne presented her work on health education, entitled āA longitudinal study of the impact of pre-service teacher training in health education and the implications for biology teachingā, co-authored with Willeke Rietdijk and Karen Pickett.
Dr Andri Christodoulou and Prof Marcus Grace presented their work in science teacher education, part of the on-going EU-funded project PARRISE, entitled āPre-service teachersā experiences of learning to teach biology through a Socio-Scientific Inquiry-Based Learning (SSIBL) approachā, co-authored with Ruth Amos and Ralph Levinson from UCL IOE.
Dr Carys Hughes gave a poster presentation on work currently taking place in collaboration with Dr Christian Bokhove on developing biology teachersā mathematics knowledge and skills. The poster presentation was entitled āDesign of a one day course to improve mathematical confidence of A-level biology teachers in Englandā.
