After last year’s successful Maths Outside day, this year we wanted to pay attention to this fabulous way to engage students with maths in their surroundings. This year a half day was dedicated to Maths Outside the classroom. The aims of the day were that trainees would experience outside maths tasks at first hand and would have the opportunity to devise their own ‘outside activities’ which they will share with the rest of the group.
Amongst the activities:
A NCETM data collection activity in which trainees in groups would explore the campus with the task to think of fun and useful activities on two different topics.

The trainees shared these ideas afterwards and were shown last year’s maths trails.
