Grammy-nominated saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, son of the legendary John Coltrane, has matured into an artist at the height of a career built on his talent, not his name. He has been praised for his music’s elusive beauty (Downbeat) and for his style informed by tradition but not encumbered by it (Philadelphia City Paper). Tonight he appears at Turner Sims with his talented quartet.

In 2009 Turner Sims hosted Haydathon, performances of all 104 of Haydn’s symphonies in a single weekend. Now, as part of our 40th anniversary year and in aid of Comic Relief, it’s Beethoven’s turn. With a hand-picked orchestra and choir on stage, experience all nine of Beethoven’s symphonies in one day in the order in which they were composed. Choose your favourites to enjoy, or undertake the marathon with us beginning at 11 and ending (with a few breaks) some 10 hours later.

Unmade Film is an ambitious body of work by Uriel Orlow shown for the first time in its entirety in the UK. The work takes the form of an impossible film, fragmented into its constituent parts. An expansive collection of audio-visual works that point to the structure of a film but never fully become one, Unmade Film takes as its starting point the emblematic yet wholly invisible Palestinian village of Deir Yassin, formerly on the outskirts of Jerusalem.

Mark Anstee has been making work about war, conflict and the monuments that commemorate battle since his time at Goldsmith’s College in the 1980s. His focus has always remained on the markers at either end of conflict; the preparation manifested in toys, games, stories of the heroic, and the commemoration of the dead in the proliferation of public monuments.

Michael Finnissy is among the most distinguished British composers working today. Remembrance Day is a major new work of over an hour’s length for baritone soloist, choir and orchestra, setting wartime texts by Henry Lamont Simpson.

We are delighted to be welcoming Vanessa Redgrave to the Nuffield Theatre on 7 December. Vanessa will be performing readings of her favourite poetry in aid of SWVG (Southampton and Winchester Visitors’ Group), which befriends destitute asylum seekers. Performing alongside her will be her daughter-in-law: actor and singer Jennifer Wiltsie, and acclaimed guitarist Mike Outram.

This exhibition offers audiences and communities the potential to rethink how or what a future transport network might be. On show is a series of artworks developed specifically by artists who have worked with Sixth Sense Transport data both collected from the project in real time and in the past.

LaramieNuffield Theatre – 10 April – 12 April
The Laramie Project tells of the tale of Matthew Shepard, a student at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, who was brutally beaten while tied to a fencepost and left to die. The members of The Tectonic Theater Project went to Laramie and conducted interviews with the people of Laramie that form this deeply moving look at the American psyche.

Turner Sims – Friday 14 March

Who needs instruments when you have seven voices and seven bodies? The inimitable a cappella group Naturally 7 play a special show at Turner Sims, having opened for Michael Buble at his recent ten-night O2 Arena residency. Building on the heritage of gospel with a style described as ‘vocal play’, the group performs its own original material as well as its inventive arrangements – which incorporate scratching, drum kit, harmonica, brass, electric guitars and bass all produced, naturally, with the human voice.
