Professor David Barron died on January 2nd, 2012. This site is a tribute to him from his colleagues, students and friends. If you would like to leave your own memories of David, you are invited to do so in the comments on this blog.
David’s funeral takes place on Friday 20th January at 14:45 at Southampton Crematorium.
In memory of my father’s somewhat eccentric collection of ties, we are requesting that colourful or cartoon ties be worn for his funeral.
This is so David! Thanks for reminding us of one his endearing features, Nick.
I can certainly assist with the dress code, I too have a large collection of ties including some tasteful ones!
I went to school with Prof. Barron’s son Nick and visited the lab a few times. As a lad of 11, I remember being awe stuck that someone so obviously “clever and important” was so approachable, genial, self effacing and utterly mad about cats! Fondly remembered.
My sincere condolences.
Thanks Gohar, good to hear from you.
