{"id":4250,"date":"2015-01-14T19:19:25","date_gmt":"2015-01-14T19:19:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/wsi\/?p=4250"},"modified":"2015-01-14T19:19:25","modified_gmt":"2015-01-14T19:19:25","slug":"22nd-january-one-day-three-wsi-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/wsi\/22nd-january-one-day-three-wsi-events\/","title":{"rendered":"22nd January: one day, three WSI events!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>1.\t<strong>Annotating and editing video for supporting blended and online learning<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n22nd January in 34\/1020. <\/p>\n<p>Food will be available from 12 and the talk will take place from 12.30pm to 1.30pm <\/p>\n<p>In this informal WSI lunch <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecs.soton.ac.uk\/people\/mw\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Mike Wald<\/a> from ECS and his team will discuss work on a WSI Research Collaboration Stimulus Fund Project focused around &#8220;Synote&#8221;. This suite of tools supports remixing, annotating, transcription and interlinking of video footage, and integration with a range of linked data, including social media information. They will present the variety of Synote implications, what are seen as potential use cases, and the plans for implementing some of these in the coming semester. Refreshments will be provided.<br \/>\nWe will also be inviting our industry partners to attend from 5pm to meet the MSc students to discuss possible industry collaborations. You are very welcome to stay and meet some of our industry partners too. <\/p>\n<p>3.\t<strong>Distinguished Lecture<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Web Science Institute Distinguished Lecture with Professor Evelyn Ruppert will be taking place from 6pm in 34\/3001.
