The basic premise is that we can speculate on the experience of artworks by studying them in relation to perceptual and cognitive processes. My thesis connects existing empirical findings with prevailing art theory. In particular I consider the psychological reality of serial artworks such as those produced by Claude Monet and Andy Warhol.
