{"id":1795,"date":"2018-03-24T09:50:30","date_gmt":"2018-03-24T09:50:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/wsaopps\/?p=1795"},"modified":"2018-04-18T08:18:22","modified_gmt":"2018-04-18T08:18:22","slug":"acs-studio-prize-6000-1st-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/wsaopps\/acs-studio-prize-6000-1st-prize\/","title":{"rendered":"ACS Studio Prize &#8211; \u00a36,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"WRchTxt1c-gos\" class=\"txtNew\">\n<h2 class=\"font_6\">The Artists&#8217; Collecting Society (ACS) is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company that administers intellectual property rights on behalf of visual artists.<\/h2>\n<h6 class=\"font_6\"><\/h6>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><strong>The Prize<\/strong><br \/>\nFor a second year running,\u00a0\u00a0ACS is offering an artist the chance to win \u00a36,000 to contribute to the cost of an artist\u2019s studio in the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><span class=\"wixGuard\">\u200b<\/span>The Studio Prize was established after a number of our members\u2019 spoke of the economic challenges they faced when starting their artistic careers. ACS realises how difficult it is to focus on your art especially after leaving university. The ACS Studio Prize\u00a0was founded to help.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">If you are an undergraduate or postgraduate university student on an accredited Fine Art course who is about to graduate, or if you have\u00a0graduated from a university accredited Fine Art course within the last four years, and you work in pictures, collage, painting, sculpture, tapestry, ceramics, glassware or photography, then you are eligible to apply for the prize.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\"><strong>Who we are<\/strong><br \/>\nACS was formed in 2006\u00a0as a\u00a0not-for-profit\u00a0Community Interest Company to administer <a href=\"http:\/\/artistscollectingsociety.org\/about-acs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"undefined noopener\">Artist\u2019s Resale Right and copyright<\/a> on behalf of our members. Since 2006 our membership has grown to over 1,000 artists and artists\u2019 estates. Our members range from renowned artists such as Frank Auerbach, Paula Rego and Eileen Cooper, to estates of\u00a0artists including\u00a0Lucian Freud, Howard Hodgkin and Barbara Hepworth. We are also proud to represent artists whose work has only recently started to sell regularly on the UK secondary market such as Bambi, Goshka Macuga and Eine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">As a Community Interest Company ACS operates solely for the benefit of our member artists. This means that any surplus income is locked into the company and used for the benefit of our member artists and the artistic community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8\">ACS is proud to fund bursaries for art students at leading institutions, whilst sponsoring a number of art prizes and charities.
