It is a fantastic opportunity to explore an industry of your choice, to gain valuable work experience and develop your skills.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, there are 5 WSA students doing a Year in Employment at amazing places such as Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Christopher Kane, Erdem and Mary Katranzou.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt is definitely worth doing a placement year, it\u2019s been great! I am now in a much better position for applying for graduate roles after university now. I have loved the challenge and responsibility and learnt so much about the industry. I would encourage anyone to take the opportunity and do a placement year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lauren Sampson, Urban Outfitters, BA Fashion &amp; Textile Design YIE<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There are currently 101 live roles on the Careers Service jobs board\u00a0 <a href=\"\/\/mycareer.soton.ac.uk\/\">MyCareer<\/a>, visit now to see the existing opportunities available for undergraduates in all disciplines. A great way to find a placement is through speculative applications. This is where you research companies you are interested in and would like to work for and approach them, even if they aren\u2019t actively advertising a role. This is a good way to ensure you find the right placement for you!<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested and want to do a placement year, please email the Placements team for support \u00a0<a href=\"mailto:Placements@soton.ac.uk\">Placements@soton.ac.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Placements Team are running weekly \u2018Year in Employment 1-1s\u2019, 10 minute 1-1 appointments in the Careers Centre, Building 37, your chance to ask the team anything placement related, so please check <a href=\"https:\/\/mycareer.soton.ac.uk\/leap\/event.html?id=10489&amp;service=Careers+Service\">MyCareer<\/a> for dates and details and book on!
