Richard James Savile Row – Studio Assistant Position

Richard James would like to offer work experience at the studio and head office in Savile Row to WSA students.

A placement here would a good opportunity for students to connect and learn, first-hand, the workings of a top Savile Row brand.  The role will be varied and very hands-on.

Places are available from February 2017, on application, after an informal interview process. This is a short-term placement, working on the SS18 collection.

Students will be taken on under a placement student contract, and we will support and care for them to the best of our abilities.

Job description

Studio assistant – you will mainly be working as a studio assistant and help the designer, studio manager and production manager with their tasks:

• Managing the archive
• Research and sourcing
• Producing swatch books
• Creating visual online content
• Working with samples and other showroom duties
• Assisting in photo shoots
• Various admin tasks
• General upkeep of the studio and work place

Requirements

Looking for a student with good attention to detail and works neatly, has good technical skills, be able to work on own initiative, hard working, good knowledge and enthusiasm of fabrics and cut. Some Illustrator and Photoshop skills would be ideal as well, not essential.

Job details

This is a short-term placement on a part time basis – starting from 2 – 3 days a week. Days might vary and increase depending on the time of the season.

We cover students with £30 per day for transport and food expenses.
