Jagex Graduate Scheme
Jagex are very excited to introduce their brand new Graduate Scheme, commencing September 2016.
This scheme has been designed to give talented graduates the opportunity to kickstart their career in the games industry, developing a wide range of skills in a hands-on, practical environment. We have structured the technology-focused scheme to ensure continual learning and progression, and will provide additional skills training and development opportunities alongside your day-to-day work.
The work you will be undertaking will be project-based and varied, providing challenging opportunities. Accountability is one of our most important values, so you’ll have the chance to contribute to business-critical projects from the word go! Upon successful completion of the 12 month scheme, we will review what you have learned and achieved, and together we can look at potential options for you to continue building your career with Jagex.
This year we are running two programmes, with three places available on each. Both programmes will offer a varied experience, with departmental rotations that allow you to understand the inter-connectivity and idiosyncrasies of our organisation.
Track 1 – Gameplay Development programme
The Gameplay Development programme will provide you with three key rotations, working on our core products. Each rotation will give you exposure to the individual stages of the game development process, and allow you to be part of design ideas, project inceptions and release cycles.
Track 2 – Core Technology programme
The Core Technology programme also has three core rotations, giving you the opportunity to develop your skills within Web Systems, Game Engine and Business Intelligence. You will gain first-hand experience of how these departments support the game development process, as well as the rest of the organisation.
Application process
Applications will open on Monday 22Â February, providing a six week window for applicants to apply before the closing date of Friday 1Â April.
First stage: CV, cover letter, portfolio and competency questions
You will be asked to submit your CV, cover letter and portfolio to us via the website. Make sure to include relevant information and experience in your CV, and that your cover letter explains why you’ve chosen that track and what interests you about those specific areas. We will also ask you to answer some competency questions so we can get a feel for the experience you’ve had, and how you’ve applied your skills in different situations. The job descriptions will be available to review next Monday 22nd February on the Jobs page.
Second stage: Skills tests
Following the successful submission of your CV, cover letter, portfolio and competency questions, you will be asked to complete some online skills tests which will assess a range of technical skills.
Third stage: Assessment Centre
If your CV and cover letter strike a chord with us, and you pass the skills test, we’ll invite you to an assessment centre at our studio. Through a series of tasks we’ll look at where your skills lie, what you really enjoy doing, and how we might be able to contribute to your career development. It will also give you a great opportunity to see what Jagex is like from the inside, and establish whether we’re a good fit for one another!
