Why? Because it has become increasingly popular for recruiters to use the web to conduct employment backgrounds and screens (Schawbel, 2011). Without this definitive presence online that attracts employers, recruiters cannot find you and make that all important judgement call on your online identity.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, users are encouraged to maintain a genuine profile that helps enhance and identify their respected persona,\u00a0online as much as they are offline.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">SO, its about creating an\u00a0<strong>authentic self-brand<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class='embed-youtube' style='text-align:center; display: block;'><iframe class='youtube-player' type='text\/html' width='700' height='424' src='http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0a0Vm0zHFh0?version=3&#038;rel=1&%23038;fs=1&%23038;showsearch=0&%23038;showinfo=1&%23038;iv_load_policy=1&%23038;wmode=transparent' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen='true'><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">\u00a0You&#8217;ve got to bear in mind that its a competitive market out there, so how do you go that one step further to attract \u00a0and prove yourself to companies? In my opinion, its all about social platforms nowadays- the constant networking \u00a0and communication; it gives you\u00a0the opportunity to <em>express\u00a0yourself,<\/em> which at the end of the day, will make you authentic, separating\u00a0yourself\u00a0from others. According to\u00a0Chamorro-Premuzic, (2013), \u201cyour future depends on being \u00a0a signal in the noisy universe of human capital&#8221;- it&#8217;s about catching the attention of others and maintaining that \u00a0attention.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_244\" style=\"width: 300px;\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/freyamumby.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/blog.png\"><img class=\"wp-image-244 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/freyamumby.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/blog.png?w=300&#038;h=168\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">My LinkedIn Profile- check out the number of views of the week<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Which leads onto the next important tip;\u00a0<em>connecting.<\/em>\u00a0Once you have grabbed the employers attention, you have to \u00a0keep hold of it by branding yourself, sharing your thoughts and experiences, demonstrating your interest in a \u00a0particular industry. You&#8217;ve got to\u00a0be an active online user!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">A perfect examples of a social platform I use to show off my authentic online profile is Linkedin.\u00a0This a professional platform, and I use it to express my experiences and\u00a0skills. I also use it to research particular companies and employers, not out of my own interest, but to get myself noticed. Personally, this is a significant attribute of LinkedIn because it allows you to build a network of connections, proving to them of your interest in their company, and perhaps your perseverance\u00a0in the time you spent to find them. Another example, which Im not so active on myself, if Twitter. Twitters openness allows you to showcase your talents and personality, creating relationships with those you find difficult to on other platforms (Elisha Wang, 2013).<\/p>\n<p>The global market is changing for employment and competition is\u00a0increasing. To conquer this, authenticity is\u00a0crucial, playing a significant part in\u00a0attracting companies\u2019 attention, expressing oneself and networking with those to showcase your unique self.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>\u00a0References<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chamorro-Premuzic, T.
