{"id":788,"date":"2015-03-10T16:27:50","date_gmt":"2015-03-10T16:27:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sarahkyle27.wordpress.com\/?p=117"},"modified":"2015-03-10T16:27:50","modified_gmt":"2015-03-10T16:27:50","slug":"topic-3-reflective-summary-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/uosm2008-2015\/2015\/03\/10\/topic-3-reflective-summary-14\/","title":{"rendered":"Topic 3: Reflective Summary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week\u2019s blog post took me a little longer than usual to gather my thoughts \u2013 I got distracted by wanting to read more facts and articles, whilst being attracted to articles about graduate jobs (behaviour typical of a final year university student, unfortunately!).<\/p>\n<p>However, my additional research did lead me to two insightful videos, which I <em>finally<\/em> discovered how to embed within the body of my text.\u00a0 This allowed me to rely less on images for visual content and try something new, whilst supporting my argument.\u00a0 I was similarly pleased to follow up on my reflective summary from Topic 1: \u00a0opening a blog post with a quote outside from the set reading.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tamaramanton.wordpress.com\/2015\/03\/07\/boost-your-brand-four-steps-to-success\/#comment-15\" >Tamara\u2019s<\/a> blog post stood out to me this week because of its clarity and creativity. \u00a0\u00a0I liked the tone and structure of her blog.\u00a0 I thought it was interesting how we raised the same point on consistency, but with slightly contrasting angles.\u00a0 My point encouraged consistency with blogging, and a consistent \u2018brand\u2019 image, whereas Tamara raised a valid point on consistency with content and social media accounts.\u00a0 Tamara also provided a great answer in response to my question about people going \u2018offline\u2019 in their job hunt.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aaaliyu.wordpress.com\/2015\/03\/04\/topic-3-climb-online-with-self-branding\/#comments\" >Aliyu\u2019s<\/a> blog post was also really engaging, and I loved the inclusion of the Seth Godin quote.\u00a0 Although I didn\u2019t initially understand her closing point (the #DearMe hashtag), I understood its relevance later throughout the week when I saw it on Twitter.\u00a0 I thought this was a really interesting way to relate our UOSM2008 blog posts to current internet stories.<\/p>\n<p>Though I didn\u2019t have enough words to relate my personal experience within this week\u2019s blog, I did find this week\u2019s topic really relevant as a student in my final year approaching the world of work. \u00a0I particularly enjoyed being able to read how recruitment is affected by the internet, and reflect on how this tied in with Topic 2.<\/p>\n<p>  <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/feeds.wordpress.com\/1.0\/gocomments\/sarahkyle27.wordpress.com\/117\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/feeds.wordpress.com\/1.0\/comments\/sarahkyle27.wordpress.com\/117\/\" \/><\/a> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/pixel.wp.com\/b.gif?host=sarahkyle27.wordpress.com&#038;blog=70254599&#038;%23038;post=117&#038;%23038;subd=sarahkyle27&#038;%23038;ref=&#038;%23038;feed=1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week&rsquo;s blog post took me a little longer than usual to gather my thoughts &ndash; I got distracted by wanting to read more facts and articles, whilst being attracted to articles about graduate jobs (behaviour typical of a final year university student, unfortunately!).
