Groundstation

Overview

The groundstation is being constructed at the University of Southampton and will be able to receive and transmit on both the 70 cm and 2 m amateur radio bands.

In order to maximise the time-on-station the antenna will be mounted on the roof of one of the tall buildings at the University of Southampton. Possible sites are highlighted on the map below.

The groundstation will be manned and operated by students and staff from the University of Southampton.

In addition UoS3 hopes to be able to recieve satellite data using software defined radios (SDR). These will allow amateur radio enthusiasts around the world to easily downlink data from the spacecraft and upload it to the Data Aggregation Server where it can be recollected and recompiled before analysis by the scientific community.
