The following\u00a0video\u00a0will explain why this university is an\u00a0ambitious choice for your education.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?feature=player_embedded&#038;v=YcdmYRYe8qo<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Culture<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The city is home to the longest surviving stretch of medieval walls in England,as well as a number of museums such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tudorhouseandgarden.com\/\">Tudor House Museum<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/seacitymuseum.co.uk\/\">Southampton Maritime Museum<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aspacearts.org.uk\/projects\/gods-house-tower\/\">God&#8217;s House Tower<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.english-heritage.org.uk\/daysout\/properties\/medieval-merchants-house\/\">Medieval Merchant&#8217;s House<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.solentskymuseum.org\/\">Solent Sky<\/a>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/seacitymuseum.co.uk\/\">SeaCity Museum<\/a> museum is located in the west wing of the civic centre, formerly occupied by Hampshire Constabulary and the Magistrates&#8217; Court, and focuses on Southampton&#8217;s trading history and on the RMS Titanic. The museum received half a million pounds from the National Lottery in addition to interest from numerous private investors and is budgeted at \u00a328 million.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southamptonboatshow.com\/2014\/psp_southampton_boat_show.aspx\">Southampton Boat Show <\/a>is held in September each year, with over 600 exhibitors present. It runs for just over a week at Mayflower Park on the city&#8217;s waterfront, where it has been held since 1968.The Boat Show itself is the climax of Sea City, which runs from April to September each year to celebrate Southampton&#8217;s links with the sea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Apart from these, there are\u00a0lots of\u00a0theatres such as the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayflower.org.uk\/\">Mayflower Theatre<\/a> (formerly known as the Gaumont) and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nuffieldtheatre.co.uk\/\">Nuffield Theatre<\/a> based at the University of Southampton&#8217;s Highfield campus, innovative art galleries such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southampton.gov.uk\/libraries-museums\/art-gallery\/default.aspx\">Southampton City Art Gallery<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vads.ac.uk\/resources\/MG.html\">Millais Gallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">City Attractions<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Southampton is rapidly becoming the South&#8217;s top leisure and cultural destination &#8211; no wonder, since there is so much to see and do.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Eating and Drinking<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Whether you fancy a quiet drink, coffee break, a lazy lunch with friends or dancing into the small hours, Southampton has the right venue for you. From intimate lounge bars to Leisure World, which houses several restaurants and bars, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.odeon.co.uk\/cinemas\/southampton\/127\/\">13-screen cinema <\/a>and two nightclubs, there&#8217;s something to suit every taste. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.west-quay.co.uk\/\">West Quay<\/a> hosts many favourite restaurants and eateries and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oceanvillagesouthampton.com\/\">Ocean Village<\/a> pairs popular restaurants with stunning views over the marina. Historic Oxford Street is home to Southampton&#8217;s finest restaurants, but wherever you are in the city you&#8217;ll be spoiled for choice. A wide variety of cuisines from across the globe is represented, with every budget catered for. There are also numerous cafes and restaurants just fifteen minutes from campus in the Portswood area, which are always popular with our student community, as well as plenty of pubs and bars.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Shopping<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.west-quay.co.uk\/\">West Quay<\/a> is one of the UK&#8217;s top 10 shopping centres, with over 100 stores including all the high street favourites. There are also three other shopping centres in the city, as well as boutiques, designer stores and an antiques quarter. There are vintage fairs throughout the year and a Christmas market too, so there really is something for everyone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Music and Festival<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Whatever your musical tastes there are great venues in Southampton for live music. The Joiners, for example, was named Britain\u2019s Best Small Venue in 2013 and is known for hosting up-and-coming bands \u2013 Coldplay, Oasis and Radiohead all played there before they were famous. There are also other small venues, including the Talking Heads and The Brook.The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.o2guildhallsouthampton.co.uk\/\">Guildhall <\/a>is a multi-purpose venue, which stages concerts for all music tastes, including pop, rock and classical music. Slightly further afield, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iwight.com\/\">Isle of Wight<\/a> is host to two festivals; Isle of Wight Festival and Bestival, which are both two of the hottest music events of the year. These are easily accessible using the ferry links to and from Southampton.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Sport<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Sports Centre in Southampton includes a dry ski slope, all-weather pitches, cross-country routes and tennis courts. The<a href=\"http:\/\/activenation.org.uk\/leisure-centre\/the-quays-swimming-diving-complex-southampton\/\"> Quays Eddie Read Swimming and Diving Complex<\/a> offers a wide range of sporting activities and you can perfect your swing on the city&#8217;s municipal golf course. Our coastal location means great watersports including windsurfing, sailing, ocean racing, power boating and dragon boating. \u00a0If spectating is your thing, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ageasbowl.com\/\">Rose Bowl<\/a> is home to the Hampshire Cricket Club, and Southampton Football Club play in the superb <a href=\"http:\/\/www.footballgroundguide.com\/southampton\/\">St Mary&#8217;s Stadium<\/a>, just outside the city centre. There are also regular bike rides with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goskyride.com\/southampton\">Sky Ride<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkrun.org.uk\/southampton\/\">Southampton Parkrun<\/a> is a free weekly 5km timed run around <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tripadvisor.co.uk\/Attraction_Review-g186299-d216084-Reviews-The_Common-Southampton_Hampshire_England.html\">The Common<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Student Life\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The University is a friendly and welcoming place, and student life on campus is vibrant and dynamic.
