I’m really excited, but enough about that for now – I’ll write a full blog on it later once it’s actually happened!

Instead, today I just plan to fill you in on various things that have happened since finishing my exams. Straight afterwards I went to Scotland with my family for a first proper break in ages! We climbed to the top of Ben Nevis and then later in the week spent some time exploring Edinburgh. After this though, it was back to Southampton, and back to work! Not what you might have expected for a just-finished student, but it was for exciting reasons so I’m not going to complain. You may remember me posting about the stroke-rehabilitation Kinect project my group worked on for our Master’s Project. Well, our supervisor deemed the work was so ground-breaking that it was worth us writing up properly with the intention of publishing in a top-quality IEEE journal! Very exciting for a group of students to get this opportunity, but it just goes to show the quality of cutting-edge research that you can get involved in at ECS even whilst you’re still an undergraduate. We’ve now got a good start on this, and will be collaborating with our initial customers too (Roke Manor Research and the Department of Health Sciences at the University), but there’s plenty more work still to do!

Aside from this, I’ve been keeping myself busy, first as a trainer at a conference in Germany for a week and then last week delivering a presentation at the UKESF Summer School in Cardiff, for Sixth Formers interested in electronics. I now have exciting plans in place for the rest of the summer too, with trips to the Netherlands and Russia coming up shortly.

Right, Southampton here we come – expect to see lots of hat-tossing pictures soon! 😀

In a couple of hours I will be heading off to Southampton for the last time (well, for now at least) for my graduation ceremony tomorrow morning.
