Yes, that’s right; I’m now the very proud holder of a First Class Honours Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Southampton! All the hard work has finally paid off and I really couldn’t be happier.
So you know now the end of my university story, but as I haven’t written for a few months, it’s only fair I fill you in on what happened in my final ever semester. I took digital and analogue design double modules as my options, and then had another two compulsory units: the first was about the intersection of business and technology and we had senior industry figures come and talk to us every week which was quite interesting. The other was our Independent Research Review, where you had to write a research paper about the state of the art of a current up and coming technology. I did something a tiny little bit different though as I’ve been writing a journal article based on the Kinect work I was doing for my GDP last semester, so it was really good to be given that opportunity. The analogue design module has a very ‘unique’ structure, but has been by far the best course I’ve done so far. There are no regular lectures, instead everything is being taught intensively in the weeks immediately before and after Easter. This was really intense (lectures 9am-6pm+ every day!) but very beneficial and enjoyable. Of course this was followed by exams, although actually I was in a minority that actually had them this time since many other optional modules my friends took were 100% coursework. It is a really great feeling knowing that they were my final ever exams!
Back to the present and I’ve now moved out of Southampton, but the journey is not quite over yet as Graduation is still to come on 19th July. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone again one more (and hopefully not last!) time.

I got a FIRST!
