Exams are coming up in about a month and there are a lot of assignments to be done and subjects to be studied. Just this week I have not one, not two, but three tests (two for discrete mathematics and one for general engineering mathematics). Yes, it is as demanding as it sounds! At this stage I can feel my brain rejecting so much revision in so little time, but I try to keep my mind clear for the days ahead and give my best in these last crucial days, because I know that once this week is over I will be flying back to the comfort of my home to see the ones I love (my family and boyfriend).

Although there is a lot of studying and work to be done over Christmas I am very anxious to start my vacation. I would be lying if I said I didn’t love my life in England, but there is a time when everyone needs a break, and that time has come to me. My break then consists of going back home, being with the people I care about the most in my life, getting in contact with my culture once again and getting away for a bit from noisy neighbours and university environment.

Once I return to England, on January 8th, I will be assessed on 4 different subjects: Discrete mathematics, Engineering Mathematics, Programming Principles (essentially Java) and Computer Systems and Applications (computing history and structure). I know I will try and do my best on these in order to pass my first semester with good grades or at least avoid re-takes.

As time passes I have noticed that England feels more and more like a second home to me, perhaps because recently three friends of mine and I managed to find the perfect house for next year which we are all very looking forward to call home. Halls isn’t bad to live in though, but when a person has such a work demanding course like software engineering, it can get pretty irritating to be woken up at 3 am by inconsiderate neighbours. However, that doesn’t put me down from wanting to be here in Southampton and I am very looking forward to coming back after some refreshing vacations!

The closer I am from Christmas break, the more I feel pressured.
