It feels like I haven’t been here that long. I’m going to miss the lifestyle of working hard but also playing hard. I realise while the work is challenging it can be fun. I think I’m going to miss arguing about open source software or what the most efficient code is. Still, it’s only a few weeks, time will fly.

This Wednesday I have a yellow belt Jiu Jitsu exam which I’m really looking forward to. Hopefully if I pass, I will be heading out to the Hobbit (if you come here, make sure you check this place out) to celebrate. One thing I’ve learnt from practising a martial art is discipline and strength, which can be applied to your studies: you need to be disciplined with your time and work and you need to be strong in the sense that if you get a sudden large workload that you don’t panic and just tackle problems one at a time. In Jiu Jitsu, you cannot afford to panic when you’ve got attackers coming at you one after the other, and likewise, the same goes for coursework.

So I guess this is the last episode of the series. Stay tuned for more of my exciting adventures after the Christmas holiday. I’ve got to concentrate on this discrete maths test which is tomorrow, as well as keep practising for the yellow belt exam, write up a technical report on Open Source vs. Proprietary Software and prepare for a vectors test on Friday. Don’t panic! Just don’t forget your towel… (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, anyone?)

Last night I was booking my train tickets to go back to my home in Bristol and I was wondering, ‘How soon can I come back to Southampton?’.
