Exam

Why are we waiting?

Still waiting for the exam results and module marks from last semester, they should be available by the end of this week or beginning of next one. It's always torture having to wait for marks that could make such a difference. Even though I have been offered a place by CMU, they require that my final results be of an acceptable nature, so I can't rest quite yet :) Project is coming along nicely. Continue reading →

Applying for MSc’s

A few months back I mentioned that I have been applying to do an MSc at a few US universities. I applied for a few really good ones with the hopes that I might be able to convince them that I would be worthy of one such place. Never had I imagined that my truly long shot, Carnegie Mellon, would offer me a spot. Don't get me wrong, it's been a hard and long process, and it's been tough balancing how much time I spent preparing for next year vs concentrating on my current degree. Continue reading →

2010 – New Year

First blog of 2010 and the first blog of year. Yep, its been hectic and challenging as predicted. I recall telling people that I felt the second year (or part 2 as they say round here) was going to be where we'd be kept busy with everything plus the kitchen sink being thrown at us and it has not disappointed. At this point in time, this is the day after the last of six exams. This is the time where it feels odd not to be revising or procrastinating on revision for some such subject. Continue reading →

Group Revision

At last, the end is in sight. Three exams have been beaten back, leaving just maths skulking in the corner, hissing menacingly. Come Tuesday, one of us will be a gibbering wreck. For now, I've got two more days to sharpen my lance and work out what in the name of engineering is up with the Laurant expansion. Maybe I should get the dream-team to explain it to me. On my course, we decided a while back that exams were a beast best conquered as a group. Continue reading →

Summer Term is here!

The summer term has started, and I have been welcomed back with an ever-increasing workload. A couple of pieces of coursework, a few labs for various modules, class tests for others, and revision beginning soon. It’s good to be back. No, really. The cricket trials were held for the University team over the last five days of the Easter holiday, and were great fun, despite some sore muscles and joints after a couple of five or six hour days. Semester Review

Wow. It’s been a very long time since I sat down to do this (sorry, fans!). In the meantime I have had quite an eventful few months, starting with the week following my last blog, when my computer decided to die on me. After that, it wasn’t long until I departed for a ski trip with the university snow sports club. Continue reading →

Exam Time!

Mayday, Mayday, Mayday You probably know that it is an emergency call and I hope you have only heard it in movies. Actually, it is the best way to describe the current situation! Yes, Exams - the hottest topic in university at the moment. Whether it's classroom, labs, library, halls, cafeteria, SUSU shops, sports centre, Uni-link buses, university road, bus-stops etc (don’t know about toilets), you see people talking about exams. Seasons Greetings

Roast turkey. Crackers. Party hats. The Queen’s speech. Watching the Great Escape. These are the main traditions of Christmas Day, and of the Christmas holiday in general. And for the next three years, I can add a large helping of coursework and revision to that list. Although there is only one day of term left as I write this, I still have to hand in one piece of coursework and do a maths exam. Continue reading →
