Term has well and truly ended…

Our term has well and truly ended, exam results have been published and everyone’s getting ready to go on holiday,…it starts to rain. Good old predictable English weather. But not to worry. I was extremely pleased with my results, receiving a first with room to spare – it’s a shame these marks don’t count towards the final degree! As for holidays, well, tomorrow I’m going on tour with SUJO, playing in jazz festivals across France and Spain for the next 8 days. Although as I write this (at 6:24pm) the drivers have until 6:30pm to find correct ID, drive over to Romsey and pick up our vehicles, so they are really cutting it fine. Let’s hope they make it! It regrettably also means a very early start in the morning – we have to be on campus for 5am! I’ll never complain about a 9 o’clock lecture again!

Fortunately that is made slightly easier by the location of my new house, which I moved into last week. Gone is the 5 minute walk, wait for a bus, and 20 minute bus ride, to be replaced by just a 10 minute walk. It certainly makes early starts a little more bearable, as well as just generally being more convenient. The house itself is really nice, being brand new just last September. The previous owners did leave it in quite some mess though, but a few days hard cleaning has put to pay most of that. As much as I love it though, it does seem very strange not going back to my halls down in Archers Road. Even though most of the things I liked about it have come with us to our new house (and a lot of the things I didn’t left behind!) I do have so many fond memories from the last year, and as that was my home during that time I am going to miss it lots.

Finally, last week was the first of the University’s Open Days for this summer. I helped out with ECS and had a really good day, meeting loads of people who were obviously very keen to get in here. It really does show you what high regard ECS is held in! If you didn’t manage to make it this time, but would still like to come and visit, there are two more Open Days left on the 4th and 5th of September and I would highly recommend checking us out!

So anyway, I hope you all have a good summer, and I will let you know how the tour went when I come back. That is of course assuming they managed to get the hire vehicles. It’s now 6:37pm, so the moment of truth has passed…
