No Santa Outfit Yet, There’s Maths to be Learnt

Christmas is getting nearer, but I can’t don my false beard and Father Christmas outfit just yet. There are still several coursework deadlines to be met before Christmas, along with several more tests in the Maths modules. These add up to a considerable amount of work, and there will not be much relaxing until they are completed.

Tickets have gone on sale for the ECS Christmas party, which takes place on the 8th December. For the gargantuan outlay of £1, there is a free buffet, and also a free glass of wine (although the free wine during Jumpstart was of dubious quality). Needless to say, I have my ticket already. I would like to say that many people are attending to enjoy the company of their fellow ECSS members, but a fair few (especially first years) must also be hoping for a repeat of an event from last year’s Christmas party, where Eric Cooke went head to head with a Mechanical Bronco, and came off distinctly second best.

On a sporting front, the dismal weather has prevented any serious sporting activity, and I can only recall one football match since my last blog, and that isn’t really worth talking about. Turning up with only 10 players against probably the strongest side in the league isn’t the most ideal situation, but everyone was extremely keen to play, that is, until half way through the first minute, when we conceded our first goal. The final score was 15-3, which may be nearer to a rugby score, but a commendable effort given the circumstances.
