University is a Pretty Good Thing

Hi all! I probably should have done my first blog sooner, but I’ve been kinda busy and haven’t really had the time to sit down and collect my thoughts like this.
Now that I’ve been at Southampton for a month and a half, and have had time to settle in and get into the swing of things, I guess some reflection is in order:
University is a Pretty Good Thing.
Of course, there are some bad things, but with so many good things it’s hard not to be satisfied with what’s happened! I mean, I was already really happy that I got here – a 3A offer where you aren’t confident in two of your subjects is a bit of a challenge, so making that is fantastic – but actually BEING here… I don’t regret my choice of at all. And neither do I regret my course either. I came here with only a teensy bit of programming skill (I tried to teach myself Python. I failed. Twice.) but the Java work we’ve been doing so far has been fun. Frustratingly hard at times, but fun nonetheless.
I’ll be looking into housing for next year, next week. It’s funny, I’ve only been here a month and a half and I’m already committing myself to living with a load of people for a good year or two. Can’t say I’m looking forward to the £400 deposit. And to think that I was so worried about going into my overdraft… can’t be helped I guess.
p.s. play Minecraft, it’s amazing and will ruin your free time like nothing else.
