Exams are Finally Over

Semester two and finally exams are over and I’m getting back into the swing of lectures. The last two weeks have been spent on my second year group project. This primarily entails spending most of the time between lectures in the electrical laboratory with the rest of my group, ensuring the robot is up to standard for the third review in two weeks time. Unfortunately trying to do this and make the most of the remaining spare time is hard, so rowing training had to take a back seat which means a week of catch up in the gym is due. If people think surfing is a way of life, they obviously haven’t tried rowing.

My day yesterday consisted of waking at half six to be on a train to get to Winchester for nine to have an introduction to sculling. This was a successful trip with only one, of the thirteen who went, falling in, much to the senior squad’s disappointment. Upon returning to Southampton at one o’clock it was straight to the boat-hard to fix up the boats for the race-packed weeks ahead. Fortunately we managed to finish in time to see most of the England rugby match.

Back on the subject of studying, this week could see the start of tutorials for several modules which up until now have been another hour free. This is both a good and bad thing; bad because it means even more 9 o’clock starts and 6 o’clock finishes: good because it means applying the material from the lectures earlier in the module with the knowledge that the lecturer is there to help should question attempts go catastrophically wrong before hitting the exam room in May. On that note in two weeks time semester one exam results are out which is always an interesting time of the year. Fingers crossed the confidence I had in the exams was justified.
