Letters by Governor Balcarres about the Maroon War

These are transcriptions from letters sent to Britain by the Governor of Jamaica, Alexander Lindsay, the Earl of Balcarres (1752-1825), about the Second Maroon War (1795-96). They help to illustrate the climate of fear among whites in the Caribbean during a period of revolutionary warfare in the middle 1790s.
