With social networks, social and ethical considerations need to be taken into account when designing the proposed idea. Some of the common ethical considerations include:
Privacy and trust: How do you form trust in relationships with people you may just be meeting for the first time? How do you know that the person you are meeting up with has good intentions? Cyber bullying and trolling are common issues as well that need to be taken into consideration when using social networks.
Skillted Team response: Users can choose to either reveal their location or choose to meet in a central and open location decided by both parties.
Data storage: How will customer’s data be stored? Who will have access to this data? Would the data be sold to third parties? Compliance with data protection regulations.
Skillted Team response: Data will not be sold on to other parties. Data will be lawfully processed and kept secure. The data will be stored on a database with access restricted.
Unfair ratings/ Defamation of character: How do you deal with reviews given with the aim of harming the other person’s skill set? How do you confirm that reviews are indeed genuine and not just made up?
Private information disclosure: When signing up for the app, do customers know what exactly they are signing up for and what the terms of service is?
Skillted Team response: Users would be made aware of terms of service and will be required to either agree or disagree at the point of registration. We will provide the users with a document which will explain our privacy policy.
In terms of social consideration, we discussed what benefits and impacts our proposed app will have on its users. We decided to use a freemium based business model. Users can start free and if willing to have more services added they can then go for the premium account.
