One of the variables determining the rate of adoption of an idea is the perceived attributes of innovation. According to Rogers(1995) there are five perceived attributes of innovation and these are namely:
Relative Advantage: This is the degree to which an innovation is perceived as better than the idea it supersedes. The underlying principle is that the greater the perceived relative advantage of an innovation, the higher its rate of adoption. With Skillted , the app has a relative advantage over existing ideas majorly because of its geolocation functionality and freemium model.
Compatibility: This is the degree to which an innovation is perceived as being consistent with the existing values, past experiences, and needs of potential adopters. Skillted is consistent with the experiences and needs of the users.
Complexity: This is the degree to which an innovation is perceived as difficult to understand and use. Skillted app is easy to use and understand. The sign in process is straightforward and the app is user friendly.
Trialability: This is the degree to which an innovation may be experimented with on a limited basis. As Skillted has a freemium business model, users are able to try the free model.
Observability: This is the degree to which the results of an innovation are visible to others. The easier it is for individuals to see the results of an innovation, the more likely they are to adopt.
In conclusion, we believe that Skillted has fulfilled all of the characteristics listed above and can therefore be classed as innovative.
