A number of key aspects of the SAVE project were described with presentations given on the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Experiences in applying best practice <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/serg\/files\/2019\/07\/twr_ICEC_2019.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-7811 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/serg\/files\/2019\/07\/twr_ICEC_2019-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"229\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/serg\/files\/2019\/07\/twr_ICEC_2019-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/serg\/files\/2019\/07\/twr_ICEC_2019-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/serg\/files\/2019\/07\/twr_ICEC_2019.png 414w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 229px) 100vw, 229px\" \/><\/a>sample recruitment and randomised control trial designs to demand response studies<\/em> (<strong>Dr Ben Anderson, University of Southampton\/Otago<\/strong>);<\/li>\n<li><em>Constructing the SAVE dataset, customer demand profiles and spatial modelling of customer loads <\/em>(<strong>Dr Tom Rushby, University of Southampton<\/strong>);<\/li>\n<li><em>Trial findings: what worked to reduce and\/or shift peak hours electricity demand<\/em> (<strong>Elizabeth Steele, DNV-GL<\/strong>);<\/li>\n<li><em>Network Investment Tool, applying the SAVE data to inform network planning and investment decisions<\/em> (<strong>Maciej Fila, SSEN<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr Rushby also presented results from the SAVE project during the main conference programme, with a talk comparing the household electricity demand reductions gained through two different trial interventions: a distribution network led roll-out of free LED lighting upgrades and a dynamic pricing trial offering participants rebates for consuming less electricity during peak hours.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"ICEC 2019 SAVE: What Worked to Shift Consumption?\" id=\"talk_frame_531946\" class=\"speakerdeck-iframe\" src=\"\/\/speakerdeck.com\/player\/486e0dcecea74b49a4db6feba8880b3a\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" style=\"aspect-ratio:640\/480; border:0; padding:0; margin:0; background:transparent;\" frameborder=\"0\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Dr Anderson gave a presentation to the main conference about the spatial microsimulation modelling techniques used within the SAVE project and a comparative project modelling household electricity demand profiles in New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Local Urban Area Electricity Demand Profile Modelling for Infrastructure Investment and Demand Response in New Zealand: Why, how and how far have we got?\" id=\"talk_frame_532043\" class=\"speakerdeck-iframe\" src=\"\/\/speakerdeck.com\/player\/a2cfaa5b55de476397803fa3c2579046\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" style=\"aspect-ratio:640\/480; border:0; padding:0; margin:0; background:transparent;\" frameborder=\"0\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On July 10th, Dr Tom Rushby and Dr Ben Anderson were joined by other project partners to present the Solent Achieving Value from Efficiency (SAVE) project at a special parallel session of the 2019 International Conference for Energy and Cities.
