We started out with some quick analysis of pick-ups (or not) of power demand during the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energy.soton.ac.uk\/uk-household-power-demand-and-worldcup2018\/\">game against Tunisia<\/a> on June 18th before moving on to the game against<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dataknut\/status\/1011013737581502467\"> Panama<\/a> on the 25th. We even tried to guestimate what the UK <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dataknut\/status\/1011013737581502467\">National Grid pick-up might be<\/a> and thought we might have spotted a penalty effect in the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dataknut\/status\/1011013737581502467\">Columbia<\/a> game. Sweden was next and the team <!--more--><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MikeyLHarper\">(@MikeyLHarper<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tom_rushby\">@tom_rushby<\/a>) rose to the task with a neatly timed cross-fade animation volley.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-839\" src=\"https:\/\/dataknut.files.wordpress.com\/2018\/08\/animation.gif\" alt=\"animation\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1000\"><\/p>\n<p>And then the end of the world. Hopes were high, it was coming home (whatever <strong>it<\/strong> was) but then it didn&#8217;t. Nevertheless and despite their disappointment <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MikeyLHarper\">@MikeyLHarper<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tom_rushby\">@tom_rushby<\/a> nailed it with a second fantastic <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MikeyLHarper\/status\/1017454443271421953\">animation<\/a> of the minute by minute ebs and flows of the power that drove the nation.
