{"id":425,"date":"2013-05-01T09:00:36","date_gmt":"2013-05-01T09:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.blogs.soton.ac.uk\/serg\/?p=425"},"modified":"2013-10-18T15:23:28","modified_gmt":"2013-10-18T15:23:28","slug":"demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/serg\/demand\/","title":{"rendered":"DEMAND: Dynamics of Energy, Mobility and Demand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.demand.ac.uk\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-482\" style=\"margin: 5px\" alt=\"demand-centre\" src=\"..\/files\/2013\/05\/demand-centre-300x83.gif\" width=\"300\" height=\"83\" align=\"right\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/serg\/files\/2013\/05\/demand-centre-300x83.gif 300w, https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/serg\/files\/2013\/05\/demand-centre.gif 363w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/demand.ac.uk\/\">DEMAND: Dynamics of Energy, Mobility and\u00a0Demand<\/a> is one of 5 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epsrc.ac.uk\/newsevents\/news\/2012\/Pages\/energyefficiencycutcarbonuse.aspx\">RCUK End User Energy Demand Research Centres<\/a> and is sponsored by EPSRC\/ESRC with support from partners EDF-Energy, Transport for London and the International Energy Agency.\u00a0The Centre\u00a0is led by the Universities of Lancaster &amp; Leeds and besides Southampton also involves researchers from Aberdeen, Reading, Birmingham, UCL, Sussex, Manchester and Sheffield. It started on May 1st 2013 and is currently funded until 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The Centre has five main research themes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Trends and patterns of energy demand<\/li>\n<li>How end use practices change<\/li>\n<li>Managing infrastructures of supply and demand<\/li>\n<li>Normality, need and entitlement<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">It&#8217;s main objective is to re-configure our understanding of everyday energy use to focus on &#8220;what energy is for&#8221;.
