His research is focused on rural electrification in sub-Saharan Africa through cooperative managed mini-grids, where he has made several trips to Africa to ensure the continued progress of the project. He is experienced in GIS modelling, resource assessment, needs assessment, technical design of PV mini-grids, deployment and implementation. He has project managed 6 mini-grid installations in Africa with a total installed capacity of over 80kWp, benefitting up to 15,000 people in the local communities.
