{"id":49,"date":"2013-04-19T12:43:59","date_gmt":"2013-04-19T12:43:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.blogs.soton.ac.uk\/serg\/?page_id=49"},"modified":"2015-03-11T16:32:23","modified_gmt":"2015-03-11T16:32:23","slug":"facilities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/serg\/about\/facilities\/","title":{"rendered":"Facilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sustainable Energy Research Group has a wide range of\u00a0facilities\u00a0including:<\/p>\n<h2>Building Integrated PV Arrays<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A fully instrumented and configurable building-integrated monocrystalline PV array of 7.2 kWp covering the south facade of Building 2 at the University of Southampton.<\/li>\n<li>Facility for studies on multiple grid connected central and string inverters for analysis of mismatch losses in PV arrays including a range of inverters from 700 W to 5 kW.<\/li>\n<li>Semi-transparent PV laminates in an array of 12.5 kWp on the atrium of the Professional Services Building at the University of Southampton.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Photovoltaic Test Facilities<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A 460 Wp, grid connected, fully instrumented and configurable roof tile mono-crystalline array.<\/li>\n<li>A range of measuring systems available for testing reliability and performance of stand-alone photovoltaic systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Holographic Optical Element Test Facade<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Test facade for performance analysis of light directing Holographic Optical Elements (HOE) elements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h2>Accelerated Lifetime Testing Rig for Electric Connectors<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Life time testing rig for electrical reliability of connectors, including PV connectors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Wave, Tidal and Hydropower Facilities<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>8 m and 12.5 m wave flumes with glass sides and floor, wavemakers with active absorption.<\/li>\n<li>21 m and 14 m tilting open channels, both with provision for studying sediment transport.<\/li>\n<li>Water wheel test tank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Marine Current Energy Converters<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Developed testing procedures and modelling systems for Marine Current Energy Converters.<\/li>\n<li>Prototypes of Marine Current Energy Converters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Simulation Facilities<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Various simulation tools for photovoltaic and solar thermal analysis as well as for system design.
