For more than 25 years, Professor Bahaj has pioneered sustainable energy research and established the energy theme within the University. These include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energy.soton.ac.uk\/category\/research\/cities-and-infrastructure\/\">Cities, Energy and Infrastructure<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energy.soton.ac.uk\/category\/research\/data-and-modelling\/\">Data and Modelling<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energy.soton.ac.uk\/category\/research\/energy-behaviour\/\">Energy and Behaviour<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energy.soton.ac.uk\/category\/research\/energy-buildings\/\">Energy and Buildings<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energy.soton.ac.uk\/category\/research\/energy-for-development\/\">Energy for Development<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energy.soton.ac.uk\/category\/research\/environmental-impacts\/\">Environmental Impacts<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energy.soton.ac.uk\/category\/research\/microgeneration-technologies\/\">Microgeneration Technologies<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energy.soton.ac.uk\/research\/renewable-energy\/\">Renewable Energy<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.energy.soton.ac.uk\/category\/research\/renew-energy\/pv\/\">Solar Photovoltaics<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energy.soton.ac.uk\/6079-2\/\">Offshore Wind<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energy.soton.ac.uk\/tag\/marine-energy\/\">Marine Energy<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Professor Bahaj\u2019s work has resulted in over 300 articles, published in academic refereed journals and conference series of international standing. He founded the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.journals.elsevier.com\/international-journal-of-marine-energy\">International Journal of Marine Energy<\/a> (IJOME) for which he is the Editor-in-Chief. Prof Bahaj also holds <a href=\"http:\/\/news.xauat.edu.cn\/jdyw\/2017-09-29\/11853.html\">visiting professorships at the Xi\u2019an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT)<\/a>, Xi\u2019an, China, (2017 &#8211; ), the \u00c5ngstr\u00f6m Laboratory and Engineering University of Uppsala, Sweden (2011-15) and the King Salaman ben Abdulaziz Visiting Chair for Energy Research, at King Abdulaziz University (KAU), Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (2014 &#8211; ). He is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (FICE), Institution of Engineering Technologies (FIET) and the Royal Academy of Arts (FRSA).<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, Prof Bahaj was appointed Chief Scientific Advisor to Southampton City Council\u2014believed to be the first such appointment in the UK.
