\"Blackout<\/a><\/p>\n

A big thank you to all the\u00a0volunteers who took part in\u00a0this year\u2019s\u00a0Blackout<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

More than 220\u00a0students and\u00a0members of staff\u00a0took part in\u00a0the event on\u00a0Friday 13 November which spanned\u00a0five campuses \u2013 Highfield, Avenue, WSA, Boldrewood and, for the first time ever, the Somers Building at Southampton General Hospital.<\/p>\n

The Blackout team worked hard going round the buildings and making sure all non-essential equipment was turned off before the weekend in less than three hours.\u00a0As thanks to all the volunteers, the night ended with a celebration in SUSU’s Bridge Bar, complete with giant snakes and ladders\u00a0and over 100 pizzas!<\/p>\n

\"Blackout<\/a> \"Blackout<\/a><\/p>\n

Blackout\u00a0highlights the positive impact of our collective small actions on campus\u00a0just by switching off computers, lights and devices at the end of each day.<\/p>\n

The Blackout management team will now be looking at the electricity data; look out for the published results in due course.<\/p>\n

Blackout\u2019s not just for one night though, so please remember to switch off non-essential equipment again this evening before you go home.<\/p>\n
