\"Christmas<\/a>With the end of term and the Christmas holidays fast approaching, it\u2019s important to be thinking about the sustainability of this often consumer-focused holiday. Students on the interdisciplinary curriculum innovation module \u2018Sustainability in the Local and Global Environment<\/a>\u2019 designed and produced films exploring different sustainability issues; these may help you navigate some of the sustainability pitfalls of the holiday season.<\/p>\n

Real or plastic trees, LED lighting, check out the facts<\/a> about how to reduce the environmental impact of your Christmas choices, and in particular that all-important Christmas dinner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sustainable shopping<\/a> on a student budget\u00a0can be challenging, but don\u2019t pick up that iPhone<\/a>\u00a0or those new shoes<\/a>\u00a0as gifts without finding out their sustainability credentials first. And it\u2019s not just the products themselves; plastic<\/a>\u00a0packaging can have a huge environmental impact too.<\/p>\n

With the Christmas party season upon us, gain extra kudos for organising sustainable pre-drinks<\/a> and taking into consideration the sustainability of alcohol consumption<\/a> (whilst, of course, drinking responsibly!).<\/p>\n

When it\u2019s time to head home to the family, think about the health and environmental impacts of your journey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t keep your sustainable choices to yourself; nudge <\/a>family and friends\u00a0to join you in living more sustainably, saving them from wilful ignorance<\/a> about the impact of their daily lives.<\/p>\n
