The primary goal is to make the site more accessible to non-technical users, those who may not know what an RSS feed is or what to do with one, by simplifying the terms used and stripping out the technical jargon.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_733\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-733\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/oneshare\/files\/2012\/06\/PANFeed_Original.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-733\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/oneshare\/files\/2012\/06\/PANFeed_Original-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"Original PANFeed layout\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/oneshare\/files\/2012\/06\/PANFeed_Original-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/oneshare\/files\/2012\/06\/PANFeed_Original-1024x691.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/oneshare\/files\/2012\/06\/PANFeed_Original.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-733\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The current PANFeed look and feel<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The second aim is to make the PANFeed website more accessible on mobile devices &#8211; currently, the PANFeed site is structured in a very traditional fashion, which makes it difficult for phones and tablets to render. <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.github.com\/bootstrap\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bootstrap<\/a>, a free collection of tools developed by Twitter, is particularly useful in creating dynamic, fluid layouts that work well on a wide variety of devices that use vastly different resolutions.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_732\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-732\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/oneshare\/files\/2012\/06\/PANFeed_New.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-732\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/oneshare\/files\/2012\/06\/PANFeed_New-300x119.jpg\" alt=\"Proposed PANFeed layout\" width=\"300\" height=\"119\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/oneshare\/files\/2012\/06\/PANFeed_New-300x119.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/oneshare\/files\/2012\/06\/PANFeed_New-1024x407.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/oneshare\/files\/2012\/06\/PANFeed_New.jpg 1215w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-732\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The proposed PANFeed look and feel<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This new layout is still very much in development and is likely to change a great deal in the near future, to take advantage of some of the more appealing features of Bootstrap, so stay tuned for more updates soon!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PANFeed is currently undergoing a usability update, with two main goals planned.
