{"id":440,"date":"2011-10-27T17:14:33","date_gmt":"2011-10-27T16:14:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/oneshare\/?p=440"},"modified":"2012-11-19T12:51:00","modified_gmt":"2012-11-19T11:51:00","slug":"user-stories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/oneshare\/2011\/10\/27\/user-stories\/","title":{"rendered":"User Stories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the outputs of interviewing the stakeholders was that we have developed some user stories to describe the thoughts of the stakeholders. \u00a0A user story takes the following form:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;As a &lt;role&gt;, I want &lt;goal\/desire&gt;<br \/>\nso that &lt;benefit&gt;&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As you can see, it states who the user is, what they want to be able to do and the reason for wanting that.<\/p>\n<p>Below are our collection of user stories developed for the student dashboard. \u00a0It is a work in progress, so we will add more and amend them as we validate them with the stakeholders.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;As a &lt;role&gt;, I want &lt;goal\/desire&gt;<br \/>\nso that &lt;benefit&gt;&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs a tutor, I want to see a photo of my tutee<br \/>\nso that I can recognise who I am meeting\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs a senior tutor, I want to access mobile telephone numbers<br \/>\nso that I can contact students that have gone AWOL\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs a tutor\/senior tutor, I want to see my tutee\u2019s exam and coursework marks<br \/>\nso that I can support and advise them appropriately.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs a tutor, I want to see my tutee\u2019s mitigating circumstances<br \/>\nso that I can ensure they are taken into account on the exam board.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs a senior tutor, I want to see my e-mail communications with a student<br \/>\nso that I have context for our meetings.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs a student, I want to know see my predicted degree grading<br \/>\nso that I am aware of my current performance.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs front desk staff in student services, I want quick access to all of a student\u2019s data<br \/>\nso that I can deal with their inquiry immediately.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs a careers advisor, I want to know the course title, length of that course and which year a student is in<br \/>\nso that I know whether to offer advice on getting a summer placement, or applying for jobs.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs front desk staff in student services, I want to know a student\u2019s alternative contact e-mail address<br \/>\nso that I can communicate with them prior to their enrolment, or while they are suspended.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs a member of faculty student services, I want to see a student\u2019s timetable<br \/>\nso that I can tell them where they need to be when they ask.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs a tutor I wish to see a list of engagement indicators for each of my tutees.
