The Centre was founded in 2006 and\u00a0brings together a wide range of research interests, relevant to <em>Empire<\/em>\u00a0from staff in History and other disciplines in Humanities. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/history\/research\/centre_for_imperial_and_post_colonial_studies.page\">http:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/history\/research\/centre_for_imperial_and_post_colonial_studies.page<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Slavery and Revolution\u00a0 &#8211; Dr Christer Petley&#8217;s website<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/history\/about\/staff\/cp16v07.page\">Dr Christer Petley<\/a>\u00a0from Humanities (History), has a website that is dedicated to slavery and revolution in <span style=\"color: #0568bf\">Jamaica <\/span>&#8211; two key themes in <em>Empire<\/em>. It includes\u00a0selections from a range of primary documents all about different aspects of imperialism and colonial rule,\u00a0with beautiful illustrations: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.empire.amdigital.co.uk\/\">http:\/\/www.empire.amdigital.co.uk\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Oates Collection is a collection of national significance, containing rare books about aspects of British imperial history. It is in two parts, one on Africa: <a href=\"http:\/\/library.soton.ac.uk\/oatesafrica\">http:\/\/library.soton.ac.uk\/oatesafrica<\/a>, the other on slavery: <a href=\"http:\/\/library.soton.ac.uk\/oatesslavery\">http:\/\/library.soton.ac.uk\/oatesslavery<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>External sites<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>BBC\u2014\u2018Empire and Seapower\u2019<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/history\/british\/empire_seapower\/\">http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/history\/british\/empire_seapower\/<\/a> An excellent collection of readable essays and images that help bring the histories of empire and Britain overseas to life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CASBAH: Caribbean Studies; Black and Asian History:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.casbah.ac.uk\/\">http:\/\/www.casbah.ac.uk\/<\/a> A website designed to help people study these topics\u2014including getting started with looking for black and Asian ancestors.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>University courses and modules related to<em> Empire<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Shipwrecks and Submerged Worlds MOOC<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0MOOC\u00a0from the Centre for Maritime Archaeology\u00a0at the University touches on the theme of maritime empires.
