During the last 5 years, the internet usage had increased in UK substantially. This was shown on the UK National Statistics Bulletin on Internet Access – Households and Individuals in 2013. We based our market research depending on this document since QuidLink will initially start in the UK.
As shown in the below image below, 53% people tend to use the Internet on the go mostly on their mobile phones and smartphones , 32% also used the internet on their portable computer. Based on this results we can suggest the to develop our suggested social payment system, QuidLink, as a Web Application where it can be accessed through both smartphones and portable computers.
The document also showed that social networking has been one of the major success stories of the Internet age and its use continues to grow. In 2013, over half (53%) of all adults participated in social networking, up from 48% in 2012. Almost all adults aged 16 to 24 (93%) have used social networks, but it is important to note that its use is not solely confined to the youngest age groups, with one in every two adults (50%) aged 45 to 54 year olds now reporting that they partake in social networking.
Figure 8 from the statistical document showed an increase of around 50% during the three years between 2010 and 2013 on different age groups. Based on these results, QuidLink can base the targeted market audience to the age group of 16-44 Since the results show more than 70% of Internet Usage.
The internet activities showed a noticeable increase in our interested areas within QuidLink Social Payment System which are: Internet banking, Selling goods through internet, and sending/receiving emails . The document stated that adults aged 25 to 34 used the Internet more than any other age group to carry out a wide range of established ‘every day’ activities, such as purchasing goods or services online (92%), Internet banking (76%) and selling goods online (45%).
