Designing a good survey is a very important step in any product design before product development. Surveys can answer these important questions:
- Will our new idea for this product work?
- Will our target population be excited about our new product?
- What does our target population need that they can’t find elsewhere?
- Establish the survey goals
- Choose the sample (the audience)
- Determine interviewing methodology
- Create the questionnaire
- Get ethical approval from the University of Southampton
- Conduct the survey
- Analyze the data
Based on those steps, the goal of this survey is to find out what is going on in electronic payment area and how the users are using it. Also we aim to find out what are the key concerns of the audience when using existing electronic payment system. Moreover, it is very important to know if the audience are interested about the social payment system idea.
The audience will be targeted through social networks like Facebook. That is because the system is expected to be used more by social network users, Nevertheless the proposed payment system can send the transactions using emails or short text messages as well.
The survey will be conducted through both electronic surveys and personal interviews.
We spent some time on designing the survey questions. After we finished the initial draft of questions, we showed it to our mentor who gave us some advices about some questions. Also we discussed the questions with one of our critical friends (Tim) who gave us also some comments about some questions and their order.
The application was sent for ethical approval on 27th March 2014.
