{"id":1986,"date":"2016-11-28T21:50:41","date_gmt":"2016-11-28T21:50:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/music\/?p=1986"},"modified":"2016-11-28T21:50:57","modified_gmt":"2016-11-28T21:50:57","slug":"body-percussion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/music\/2016\/11\/28\/body-percussion\/","title":{"rendered":"Body Percussion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Second year undergraduate student Kitty O\u2019Neal reports on a recent composition workshop.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/humanities\/undergraduate\/modules\/musi2093_composition_workshop_a.page\">Composition Workshop A<\/a>\u00a0(a BA Music module available to 2nd and 3rd year students) has\u00a0three assignments \u2013 \u2018Constraints\u2019, \u2018Rhythm\u2019 and and a free composition at the end of the semester. Following our \u2018Constraints\u2019 challenge of writing a composition using only 4 pitches, we are now in the midst of composing for body percussion and non-singing voices.
