Through individual composition classes with<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.uk\/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&amp;ion=1&amp;espv=2&amp;ie=UTF-8#q=tansy%20davies\" target=\"_blank\"> Tansy Davies<\/a>, whose\u00a0opera <em><span class=\"s1\">Between Worlds<\/span><\/em>\u00a0was recently premiered at The Barbican, and group workshops with the Norwegian percussionist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hakonstene.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">H\u00e5kon\u00a0Stene<\/a>, postgraduate composers explored\u00a0some of the\u00a0omnifarious\u00a0possibilities of contemporary percussion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Day 1 centred on a presentation by Tansy Davies and workshops of pieces by Ben Jameson, Alex Glyde-Bates, and Martin Humphries. Exemplifying the versatile role of the contemporary perc<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hakonstene.net\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/flexslider_full\/public\/nickitwang.jpg?itok=8btuW4sP\" alt=\"\" width=\"261\" height=\"163\" \/>ussionist, the instrumentation for these contrasting pieces ranged from electric guitar to electronic drums, triggering pre-recorded samples, via castanets.\u00a0The discussions of the pieces were informative and beneficial to both composers and audience.
