{"id":398,"date":"2014-03-28T15:27:34","date_gmt":"2014-03-28T15:27:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/mase\/?p=398"},"modified":"2014-03-28T15:27:34","modified_gmt":"2014-03-28T15:27:34","slug":"gisela-wins-sustainability-education-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/mshe\/gisela-wins-sustainability-education-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Gisela wins Sustainability Education Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gisela Cebri\u00e1n Bernat, who has just completed her PhD under the supervision of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/education\/about\/staff\/mmg1.page?\" target=\"_blank\">Dr Marcus Grace<\/a> and Professor Debra Humphris, has been awarded a University of Southampton Students\u2019 Union \u2018Sustainability Action Award\u2019 (Runner-up in the \u2018Outstanding Student Award\u2019 category). Gisela\u2019s doctoral research focused on the development of an organisational learning model to embed education for sustainability within the undergraduate curriculum at the University of Southampton. An action research approach was used, adopting a critical friend position within a community of practice, with the aim to learn from real practice through acting as a facilitator for curriculum development in education for sustainability across an interdisciplinary group of five academic staff members. An evidence-based model (the \u2018I3E Model\u2019) has been developed with four overarching components that can support the University of Southampton in its aim to embed education for sustainability within the undergraduate curriculum.
