The Mathematics and Science Learning Centre at University of Southampton provides opportunities for teachers, lecturers and support staff throughout their career.\u00a0 The Centre supports educators in identifying and implementing teaching and learning approaches based on the very best education research, evidence-based approaches and classroom practice.\u00a0 We work in partnership with schools and colleges across the South of England to harness best practice and enhance impact on students’ learning.<\/p>\n

The Centre works closely with the Mathematics, Science and Health Education (MSHE) Research Centre<\/a> to translate the world class research in Southampton Education School to strategies that can be used in schools and colleges.<\/p>\n

Southampton Education School\u00a0hosts the Mathematics and Science Learning Centre in a purpose built facility on the Highfield Campus.\u00a0 A small dedicated team co-ordinate the activities of the Centre and are willing to help you in identifying support to match your needs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Centre offers a range of flexible support from scheduled professional development, action research programmes with the option to link to Masters-level qualifications<\/a>, Teacher Subject Specialism Training (TSST)<\/a><\/u> in mathematics, physics and computing, funded projects and bespoke, personalised support. The Centre runs professional development courses, conferences and networks for Primary<\/a><\/u>, Secondary<\/a><\/u> and Post-16<\/a><\/u> teachers.<\/p>\n

The Centre hosts the secondary science PGCE<\/a> programme, physics<\/a>, SKE and laboratory sessions for primary science. During June and July it also hosts the Computer Science<\/a> SKE that prepares applicants for the PGCE
\nIT&CS and the School Direct programme.<\/p>\n
