In my previous post, I mentioned that Mentors have been emailing their mentees with Welcome Letters. Kindly, Lewis Brennen, a History Mentor, has allowed me to share his Welcome Letter with you all.\u00a0\u00a0This is a perfect example of\u00a0what Mentors are saying to\u00a0Mentees, as a way of introduction!<\/p>\n
“Hi everyone!<\/span><\/p>\n First off, I just want to say massive congratulations on getting into the University of Southampton to study history. It\u2019s a fantastic place and a great course so I hope that in a couple of years time you\u2019ll be able to agree with me that these really are the best years of your life. Just to introduce myself: my name\u2019s Lewis and I, alongside Katie, will be your Peer Mentor this year. I\u2019m in my third year studying history (single honours) and am also the Welfare Officer on the History Society Committee, so hopefully I\u2019ll be seeing a lot of you on our fantastic range of socials and events throughout the year!<\/span><\/p>\n As your mentor my role will be to use my experience and knowledge of university life in Southampton to give you advice, support, and answer any questions you may have. Whilst university life is great, settling in and getting into the swing of things during the first semester can be tough. But I hope that through utilising Katie and me, alongside all the other support available to you, you will quickly overcome any problems you may be experiencing.<\/span><\/p>\n You\u2019ll have your first chance to meet Katie and me, along with the rest of the group, at the department\u2019s drink reception.
