Congratulations

vc-awardsWe are super proud of two of our Music colleagues who were recently honoured with awards for their outstanding service to the university.  The Vice Chancellor’s Awards are presented annually to individuals who have made especially valuable contributions to the university community.  Among the twelve recipients of the 2014 awards were Music’s Head of Performance Planning, the amazing Louise Johnson (pictured here receiving her award from Vice Chancellor Don Nutbeam) and Turner Sims Professor of Music, Harvey Brough.  Louise was honoured for the  imagination and flair she brings to the organisation of the Music department’s extensive programme of performances and her outstanding support for professional musicians and students alike.  Harvey’s award was for his work as the founder-director of the university’s community choir.  Harvey received several nominations from colleagues across the University, all of whom wanted to single out his leadership qualities, his infectious enthusiasm and his significant contribution to one of our core institutional values – that of community. One nominator said: “You have to be there to see him – he has so much faith in us and gets us to sing our hearts out … Harvey has gifted this life affirming community activity and music to us all. The choir and Harvey make me proud and honoured to work here.”
