Looking for an introductory paper on current issues in another region?
Many of us work in one region or perhaps even one country. We can find ourselves wondering ‘What issues are keeping family demographers busy in Latin America, West Africa….?’
We invite you to share papers, commentaries, links that you think are useful introductions to contemporary issues in intergenerational research in your country or region.
Brigida García Guzmán and Gabriela Meije-Pailles have started us off with two references on Latin America that others may find interesting. Please note your suggestions in the reply section and we will collate them during the seminar.

The data is very impressive. The next step would be extend the research to examine the possibility of establishing some general categories. My particular interest would be to examine to what extent government social policy e.g. assistance to large families, female headed families etc have or will foster /not foster traditional family disintegration.
This is particularly interesting for countries which are modernizing or fast industrializing
Such research is necessary as countries decide to continue with or or disband their social policies in this area. This is an area of research which I am interested in.
